OSU Author's Event to be Featured on C-SPAN

J.C. Hallman, an assistant professor of English at Oklahoma State University, will be featured at the Booksmart Tulsa event on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at Lucky’s on the Green.

HallmanHallman’s upcoming book, B & Me: A True Story of Literary Arousal, is garnering national media attention.  C-Span’s “BookTV” program will be at the event on Wednesday to cover the book’s release.

A 2013 Guggenheim Fellow, Hallman joined the OSU faculty in 2011.  His previous books include The Chess Artist, The Devil is a Gentleman, The Hospital of Bad Poets, In Utopia, and Wm & H’ry.

Hallman advances his tradition of creative non-fiction writing in B & Me, chronicling his discovery of author Nicholson Baker’s work and how Hallman discovered himself in the process.  Reviewers have described the book as “daring,” “witty,” and “a love letter to the act of reading.”

Prior to his appointment at OSU, Hallman taught at the University of Pennsylvania, University of St. Thomas, and St. Joseph’s University.  He studied creative writing at the University of Pittsburgh, the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

B & Me will be available from Simon & Schuster on Tuesday, March 10.
