Microbiology student named Tylenol 2015 Future Care Scholar

Gretchan Moore, an Arts and Sciences cell and molecular microbiology major, was recently named a 2015 Future Care Scholar by Tylenol.

The $5000 scholarship is for students who are pursuing a career in health professions. Forty students are chosen who demonstrate academic excellence, exemplary leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to the career of caring for others. Winners can only be awarded the scholarship once.

My experiences helped me ask and answer difficult, challenging, and painful questions.” Moore said. “I knew from an early age that I loved science and wanted to have a career in a scientific field; later realizing I was suited for the medical field. It was through medical experiences as a child, a patient and during shadowing that I not only faced difficult situations but also learned from them. I have always been told that the way to reach your dreams is through education, which is why I now pursue medical training."

Moore is from Roland, Oklahoma and plans on being a practicing physician.
