Terry recognized as an Outstanding Senior

Rachel Terry, an honors biology major from Edmond, Oklahoma, has been selected as an Oklahoma State University 2019-2020 Outstanding Senior by the OSU Alumni Association.

The Outstanding Seniors award recognizes seniors who show excellence through academic achievement; campus and community involvement; academic, athletic or extracurricular honors or awards; scholarships and work ethic during their time at OSU.

While at OSU, Terry served as vice president of new membership for the OSU Student Foundation, president of OSU Mortar Board, director of campus activities for Chi Omega Sorority, freshman president of College of Arts and Sciences Student Council, College of Arts and Sciences Student Government Association senator, and was a President’s Leadership Scholar in the United Kingdom. Her community involvement includes serving as an American Legion Auxiliary Oklahoma Girls State Counselor and Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair volunteer judge, and volunteering at Crossings Community Clinic, Manos Juntas Clinic and Mercy Hospital.

Terry was also honored as a Women for OSU Student Philanthropist Scholar, named an OSU Homecoming Royalty Queen Candidate, a Mortar Board Top Ten Freshman Woman, and she was awarded the OSU Life Science Freshman Research Scholar award and the Department of Integrative Biology Outstanding Sophomore award. She also completed an Outstanding Research Presentation for Stephenson Cancer Center Internship and was selected to present glioblastoma research at the 2020 Oklahoma State Capitol Research Day.

“Leading the Student Foundation in our campaign to provide financial resources to students who are unable to pay tuition due to an unforeseen emergency through the Cowboy Strong Fund has been the most meaningful part of my college experience,” Terry said.

After graduation, Terry plans to attend medical school.

Terry is one of 16 students selected for the 2019-2020 Outstanding Senior award. The OSU Alumni Association Student Awards and Selection Committee selected the 16 winners after meeting with the 41 Seniors of Significance selected in the fall of 2019 and reviewing their applications.
